Types of gravity grain handling equipment

Gravity flow equipment is an indispensable mechanism and element in enterprises whose activities are aimed at preserving crops and their further processing. They are an excellent alternative to conveyors, reliably connecting machines mounted on different levels.

Nomenclature of gravity parts

The nomenclature includes gravity flow pipes and, of course, fittings, among which we offer clamps and inlets, plugs and flanges, linings and sectors (elbow).

Fittings are used for installation or branching, changing the direction and specifically the cross-section of pipes.

Functional focus

For the movement of bulk solids, gravity pipes are available in various cross-sections, including round, rectangular and, of course, square. At the same time, some modifications of rectangular pipes have a removable bottom.

The throughput capacity of the pipe is fully determined by the angle of inclination and, of course, the cross section, the values of which depend on the capacity of the installed line and the type of cargo used on it.

To fix the required angle of inclination to the product, sectors and elbows D – from 140 to 380 mm with the angle between the flange planes of the mating flanges – from 27° to 54° are produced.

Transition spigots are provided for transforming the cross-section of gravity structures, the greatest demand for them arises when pipes are installed directly to hoppers or specific equipment. Using paired inlets, as well as single and symmetrical ones, pipes (one or a pair) are connected to the gravity mechanism.

Sealing of specific joints of flanges is created by gaskets, whether they are polymeric or rubber, as well as industrial sealants, special putties and special coatings.

The use of flip valves allows to change the grain flow direction trajectory in places where the pipeline branches into multidirectional lines. Moreover, it is possible to change the course both in one direction and in two directions, and to use them with manual or electric motor drive.

Gate valves, like gate valves, are provided in pipes, outlet mechanisms of hoppers and cone-shaped silos – for opening or closing processes. It is thanks to them that the tension of the flowing mass is regulated by means of a manual drive or remotely by means of an electric motor.

Dumping cart allows to unload grain by gravity without manual labor from the belts of overhead conveyors, in mechanized grain warehouses.

The continuity and quality of functioning depends on the thoughtfulness of the overall configuration of the entire system and, therefore, the selection of pipes and fittings that will be used directly in the process – must be done responsibly and thoughtfully.
